Five quick observations about self-storage industry

In News flash on August 17, 2011 by Lock+Store

Here are five quick observations about the self-storage industry made by our CEO Helen Ng on the sidelines of the Self-Storage Conference currently held in Melbourne, Australia:

1. Despite this being the age of Information Technology, consumers still rely heavily on paper Yellow Pages to search for reliable self storage providers. Here’s one rare market where social networking has yet to make significant inroads

2. Word of mouth of good service is paramount in every market. We hope you like our service at Lock+Store!

3. Self storage is a fragmented industry with many owner operators. Competition is good for the consumer

4. Most facilities are run by a maximum of two staff who are trained to clean, sell etc…do everything! Wow! Singapore seems like paradise in comparison.

6. 24/7 access is considered premium. Phew! Lock+Store offers 24/7 secure keycard access.
